09 09 PPGCM Pesquisadores do PPGCM NoticiaResearchers at UFRJ have achieved a significant breakthrough in healthcare: a new technique capable of reducing the time required for childhood cancer diagnosis from up to 15 days to just 1 day.

The methodology combines gene expression analysis with the use of artificial intelligence, making the process faster and more accurate. This innovation not only enables earlier treatment but also increases children’s chances of recovery.

The work results from a partnership between researchers from the Graduate Program in Medical Sciences (PPGCM/UFRJ) and the Institute of Pediatrics and Childcare Martagão Gesteira (IPPMG/UFRJ), in collaboration with the Carlos Chagas Filho Biophysics Institute (IBCCF/UFRJ) and the National Cancer Institute (INCA).

The research team includes Christal Abraham, Cristiane de Sá Ferreira Facio, Amanda Ranhel, Daniele Fernandes, Enrico Riscarolli, and Elaine Sobral da Costa, members of the Flow Cytometry Laboratory.

This achievement highlights the importance of Brazilian science and innovation as drivers of social transformation, directly impacting the lives of patients and their families.
