27 08 ppgcm corpo do artigo silhuetaGraduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1987), with a medical residency in Gastroenterology at the Fluminense Federal University (1991), a master's degree in Medicine (Gastroenterology) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1994), a doctorate in Clinical Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1999), with a sandwich period at Barts and The London Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry, London (1998), and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, United States (2005-2007). He is currently a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine (2018) and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Clinical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (CAPES rating 7) (2017-), a collaborating researcher at the D'Or Institute for Research and Education, a Scientist of Our State by FAPERJ (2011-), and a productivity fellow in research from CNPq (2010-). He is a full member of the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology (FBG), the Gastroenterology Association of Rio de Janeiro, where he is the vice president (2023-2024), the Study Group on Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Brazil (GEDIIB), a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF), Leader of the Digestive Diseases Research Group in the Directory of Groups in Brazil, Coordinator of the Intestinal Diseases Outpatient Clinic (2018-), and Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory at HUCFF/UFRJ (2023-). He has experience in the field of Clinical Medicine, with an emphasis on Gastroenterology, working in the basic, clinical, and preclinical model areas. His work mainly involves the following topics: inflammatory bowel diseases, mucosal immunology, gastrointestinal carcinogenesis, and epidemiology of digestive system diseases.
