The Graduate Program in Clinical Medicine (PPGCM) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) is academically affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and offers both Master’s and Doctorate “stricto sensu” courses.
The PPGCM follows CAPES guidelines, particularly in Medicine Area I, to distinguish the training of its Master’s and Doctoral students from professional training, focusing on teaching subjects related to scientific methodology, pedagogical training, and ethics and research integrity.
Established in 1978 with its Doctorate degree authorized in 1994, the PPGCM has already graduated more than twelve hundred students. The Program's success in training its students is evidenced by the quality of the students’ output and the career paths of its alumni. In achieving the primary goal of training students through the production and dissemination of quality knowledge, the PPGCM confirms the coherence of the articulation and adherence of the Program’s areas of concentration, research lines, and projects.
