The diversity and complexity of the laboratories where research lines are developed reflect the maturation of the work carried out within the Program. Many serve as core facilities and house large, shared-use equipment acquired through competitive processes. These are located both at the Program’s headquarters, the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital (HUCFF), and within Institutes of UFRJ's Health Sciences Center:
- HUCFF/UFRJ Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory
- Connective Tissue and Glycobiology Laboratory, from UFRJ’s Institute of Medical Biochemistry and HUCFF
- Respiratory Physiology Laboratory, with two locations: Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics and Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital
- Hematology and Hemotherapy Laboratory, HUCFF/UFRJ
- Immunobiophysics Laboratory, IBCCF/UFRJ
- Pulmonary Research Laboratory at the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics
- Cryobiology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Laboratory, Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital
- Mycology and Bacteriology Laboratories, Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital
- Molecular Oncology Laboratory, HUCFF/UFRJ
- Mycobacteria Laboratory, with two sites: Prof. Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology/UFRJ and Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital/UFRJ
- Clinical Nutrition Laboratory, Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital/UFRJ
- Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Research Center, CEPEDIP/HUCFF
- Academic Tuberculosis Program, FM, IDT, and HUCFF/UFRJ
- Mycobacteria Genetics Laboratory, IOC/FIOCRUZ
- PROHART, Hypertension Program at HUCFF
- Clinical Research Unit in Tuberculosis, IDT/UFRJ
- Clinical Research Unit, HUCFF/UFRJ
- Difficult-to-Control Asthma Unit, IDT/UFRJ
- Molecular Mycobacteriology Laboratory, HUCFF/UFRJ
IT Resources
There are a substantial number of computers in various program sectors. The HUCFF’s IT network, which hosts the PPGCM headquarters, has more than 700 points. HUCFF operates with an electronic medical record system through ProntHU, MedTrek, and LabTrek systems, providing electronic access to complementary exams, including imaging. All campus computers have access to the internet via a high-speed fiber-optic network and the CAPES Journals portal.
Library
The PPGCM has access to the Health Sciences Center Library and its affiliates, the libraries of the Clementino Fraga Filho Hospital and the Institute of Chest Diseases, which hold an extensive collection of recent books in all areas of knowledge, in addition to computerized internet access and the CAPES Journals Portal. The SIBi/UFRJ Portal provides free electronic access (www.sibi.ufrj.br) to the full texts of theses and dissertations defended by our students.
Additional Information
The Graduate Program in Clinical Medicine benefits from the use of new laboratory areas at HUCFF/UFRJ, all of which have been completed. Among these are: Institute of Chest Diseases; Cell Therapy Laboratory; Academic Tuberculosis Program; PROHART; Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Research Center (CEPEDIP); and the Connective Tissue and Glycobiology Laboratory.
In addition to the institutes, research centers, and laboratories installed at HUCFF, with significant involvement from PPGCM, there is a strong interaction with basic research, as well as its institutes and graduate programs on the Fundão campus, including the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics, the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, the Prof. Leopoldo de Meis Institute of Medical Biochemistry, the Prof. Paulo de Goes Institute of Microbiology, and COPPE/UFRJ Laboratories.
