Russolina holds a degree in Biochemical Pharmacy from the University of São Paulo (1986), a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (1989), and a PhD in Biological Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1993). She is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Her research focuses on the study of natural proteins with anti-thrombotic activity, from purification and characterization to the study of the mechanism of action. She is also currently dedicated to proteomic studies of biological fluids, especially venoms and cells infected by the Dengue virus. She has experience in the field of Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Proteins, primarily working on the following topics: natural products, toxicology, hemostasis, thrombosis, and cancer.
