He holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1998), a master's degree in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003), and a PhD in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Harvard Medical School (2006). He is currently an associate researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and an adjunct professor at the UFRJ School of Medicine. He has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Neurology, primarily working on the following topics: neuro-oncology and infections of the nervous system, focusing on progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, tropical spastic paraparesis/HTLV-I-associated myelopathy, and neurological manifestations of HIV.
