profileHe holds a master's degree in Medicine (Endocrinology) from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1999) and a PhD in Clinical Medicine - Nutrition from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2010), primarily working on the following topics: obesity, diabetes, metabolism, bariatric surgery. He is the founder and Clinical Coordinator of the Morbid Obesity Program at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital - UFRJ. Currently, he works as a researcher in the areas of obesity and diabetes, developing research aimed at integrating clinical and basic areas. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular and cellular biology at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation - Oswaldo Cruz Institute from 2011 to 2013. He was a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Souza Marques College from 2001 to 2011. He served as Staff Physician in the Clinical Medicine department at the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Rio de Janeiro from 2001 to 2011. He was a visiting professor in the Diabetes Service at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital, where he developed assistance and research in diabetes and obesity during pregnancy from 2013 to 2014. He served as a consultant for the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro for the implementation and development of the Municipal Centers for Reference in Morbid Obesity (CRO) from 2012 to 2017. He was the Vice President of the Brazilian Diabetes Society / Rio de Janeiro Regional (2010/2011) and the President of the Brazilian Diabetes Society / Rio de Janeiro Regional (2012/2013). He served as a substitute professor in Clinical Medicine / Nutrition at the UFRJ Medical School from 2014 to 2015 and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Medicine at the UFRJ Medical School since 2018.
