He holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1983), a master's degree in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), and a doctorate in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003). He is a Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a physician at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital of UFRJ. He was Deputy Director of the Faculty of Medicine (2015-2019) and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine (2010-2016). He is the Coordinator of the Hypertension Program at HUCFF-UFRJ and a member of the Type 2 Diabetes Program at HUCFF-UFRJ. He is a researcher 1B at CNPq and a Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro at FAPERJ. He has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Internal Medicine, mainly working on the following topics: hypertension, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, resistant hypertension, type 2 diabetes, treatment, and outpatient care.
