He holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1983), a master's degree in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), and a doctorate in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003). He is a Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a physician at the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital of UFRJ. He was Deputy Director of the Faculty of Medicine (2015-2019) and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine (2010-2016). He is the Coordinator of the Hypertension Program at HUCFF-UFRJ and a member of the Type 2 Diabetes Program at HUCFF-UFRJ. He is a researcher 1B at CNPq and a Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro at FAPERJ. He has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Internal Medicine, mainly working on the following topics: hypertension, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, resistant hypertension, type 2 diabetes, treatment, and outpatient care.
She holds a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1979), a master's degree in Internal Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1987), and a doctorate in Gastroenterology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1997). She has been an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 1996. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Hospital Clinic-Barcelona (2011). She is the coordinator of clinical protocols with new medications in the Gastroenterology Service. She has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Gastroenterology, working on the following topics: intestinal diseases with a primary focus on inflammatory bowel disease (clinical, epidemiological, diagnostic aspects, multicentric clinical protocols with new medications, nutrition, quality of life) and celiac disease.
He holds a degree in Medicine from the Evangelical Faculty of Paraná (1980), a master’s in Pulmonology and Phthisiology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), a doctorate in Infectious and Parasitic Diseases from the Federal University of São Paulo (1995), and a Postdoctoral degree from the Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands (2006). He has held the following positions: a) Head of the Department of Internal Medicine from August 2006 to May 2010; b) Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FM) from May 2010 to December 2015; c) Coordinator of the Diagnostic Area of the Brazilian Network for TB Research (REDE TB) from 2001 to 2014; d) Coordinator of the Advisory Committee - Medicine at CNPq from August 2010 to August 2012; e) Associate Editor of the International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (1027-3719) from 2001 to 2011; f) Elected representative of full professors at the Center for Health Sciences on the University Council of UFRJ from September 2011 to 2015; g) Associate Editor of J. Bras. Pneumol from 2004 to 2018; h) Member of the Task Force for TB Research of the World Health Organization from 2009-2019; i) President of REDE TB from 2014 to 2018; j) Consultant for the CAPES/MEC Evaluation Committee from 2014 to 2019; k) Academy representative on the BRICS TB Research Network from September 2017 to September 2019; l) Member of the Advisory Committee - Medicine at CNPq from August 2020 to June 2023. He currently holds the following positions: a) Coordinator of the Interdepartmental Academic Program on Tuberculosis at the Faculty of Medicine of UFRJ since August 2006; b) Deputy Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology - Tuberculosis (INCT-TB) since 2008; c) Member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health in TB since 2007; d) Full Professor in Phthisiology and Pulmonology at the Faculty of Medicine of UFRJ since 2010; e) Member of the International Editorial Board of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine since 2019; f) Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Global Health and Tropical Medicine Center of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal (2020-2024); g) Member of the Virus Network of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations (MCTIC) in the fight against COVID-19 since April 2020; h) Member of the Technical Chamber of the Regional Medical Council - Rio de Janeiro, 2019-2023; i) Technical Consultant on TB for the Directorate of Strategic Health Surveillance Affairs (DAEVS) of the Health Surveillance and Environmental Secretariat (SVSA) of the Ministry of Health since March 2023. He has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Phthisiology, Infectious Diseases, and Pulmonology, focusing mainly on the following topics: tuberculosis/HIV, diagnosis, immunopathogenesis, molecular biology, molecular epidemiology, treatment, clinical trials, operational studies, biosafety, cost-effectiveness, and the impact of technology incorporation.
